A Brahms Bouquet

A Brahms BouquetJohanna Roos (violin) and José Dias (piano)Johanna Roos and José Dias performed together for the first time in 2025 and collaborated with clarinettists David Syster and Junnan Sun at concerts at the Baxter and in Knysna.This August, they come together for more Brahms and perform South African composer Niel van der Watt’s Flowers of the Drakensberg. The entire programme will be compared to South African flowers, e.g., the charming Mozart Sonata is likened to a charming Cape Erica – delicate and playful yet intricate up close. Brahms’s third sonata is compared to a red Disa, with romantic intensity and stately, concentrated beauty. The programme concludes with Wieniawski’s fiery Polonaise, Op. 4 – a bright yellow pincushion.
